Need to care for dental dentures? Taking the time to care for them now can prevent future expensive replacements. Studies estimate over 31 million people world wide are wearing full or partial dentures. Because they are expensive it's vital that you learn proper dentures care. Follow these simple instructions to care to keep your new dentures looking their best.

  1. Step 1

    Handle dentures with care. Your dental dentures are extremely fragile so handle with care when cleaning dentures! Fill the sink with water or hold them over a hand towel just in case you drop them.

  2. Step 2

    Rinse away food particles. Only use lukewarm or cool water to rinse off your dentures. To clean dentures, hold your them under the water and rinse away any visible food particles.

  3. Step 3

    Brush your dentures. Brush your dentures using a specially formulated denture cleaning toothpaste and a soft bristled toothbrush. Make sure you brush the entire denture surface including where the denture comes into contact with your upper pallet.

  4. Step 4

    Rinse completely. Rinse the denture toothpaste completely from your dentures. Only use lukewarm or cool water. Rub your dentures with your fingers to help with this.

  5. Step 5

    Keep unworn dentures wet. Store your dentures in a glass filled with lukewarm or cool water or an overnight denture cleanser. Rinse dentures in the morning before putting them in to remove any cleaner or bacteria from your dental dentures.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ultrasonic cleaners have been shown to help clean dentures effectively.
  • Always brush your gums and tongue before inserting your dentures to remove any plaque or germs.
  • Never handle dentures over a hard surface. If you drop them - your dental dentures will break!
  • Never use hot water to rinse your dentures! Hot water may warp your dentures.
  • Never use anything abrasive to clean your dentures.
  • Never use bleach to whiten your dentures!
