Things You'll Need:
- Turkey Carcass
- Leftover Carrots,Corn, other vegetables
- Leftover Potatoes
- Leftover Rice
- Leftover Stuffing
- Leftover Gravy
- Use your imagination!!
- 1 Gal. size Ziploc Freezer Bags
- Dutch oven or Larger Pot with Lid
- sage
- water and/or chicken broth
- small bag of yellow rice adds more flavor!
-
Step 1
When you've had your fill of it all, place all the vegetables in one ZipLoc bag. Place the Potatoes, Stuffing, and Gravy into another ZipLoc bag. The Carcass can be broken down into another ZipLoc along with the turkey meat. Lay the filled bags flat in a corner of the freezer, stacked on top of each other to save room.
-
Step 2
When you need some "Chicken Soup for the Soul", boil a pot of water/chicken broth and add the frozen carcass. Bring water back to a boil, then lower heat to simmer for 1 hour. Remove carcass.
-
Step 3
Now add the rest of your leftover leftovers! You can add them frozen, or set them out to thaw a few hours before cooking. Bring pot to a boil, add the sage and *optional* bag of yellow rice, and simmer for about 30 minutes longer. This is a healthy Soul-Warming Meal you will want to serve again before you have leftovers to use!
