How to Draw the Structure of a White Cell

White cells are colorless cells that lack hemoglobin. The body produces these cells to fight infections; they are made primarily in the lymphatic tissue in the spleen, thymus and lymph nodes.

There are several types of white blood cells. They are irregularly shaped and change shape readily to fit through various vessels and arteries in the body. However, all white blood cells do have some common characteristics that are easy to draw.

Instructions

1. Draw the cell membrane in blue. Make this an irregular shape, a kind of wiggly oval, to represent the flexibility of the white blood cell. Let it take up a good deal of the page.

2. Use a grey color to draw the nucleus. Neutrophils, the vast majority of white blood cells, have membranes that look like "Cs" or telephone receivers. Draw this kind of shape inside the membrane.

3. Fill in the rest of the membrane with the cytoplasm. This is the fluid that fills the cell--the fluid in which the nucleus floats around. Use a light blue color for this fluid.
