How to Change Default in Media Player
Changing default in media player is the act of naming a different player to open and play back all of the media on your computer. It requires a few simple changes to the settings on your computer. You can easily switch your default media player to a different one of your preference, and this can be performed on any operating system or computer so you can better enjoy your media files.

Open your media files' folder on your computer. Click on the "Start" menu icon on your computer's taskbar. Locate your media files' folder and highlight the media file in the subfolder.

Access one of the media file's properties and settings. Right-click on the media file and select the "Properties" option. A pop-up dialog window will open with a list of internal options regarding your media file.

Choose the media player you'd like to use as your default player. At the top of the pop-up dialog window, the media file's file type will be listed, and directly below that, it will display what media player the file opens with. Click on the "Change" action, and select the new media player of your choice. (If the media player you are looking for is not listed, click on the "Browse" option and locate the media player on your computer's hard drive.)

Confirm your selection. Once you have located the media player of your choice, highlight the player's name and icon, and click "OK". Click "Apply" at the bottom of the pop-up dialog window.

Open one of your media files to double-check the changes. Double-click on one of the media files that you desire to open with the new, default media player. The media file should open in new default media player automatically.

Tips & Warnings
Stick to media players that you are familiar with. If you have downloaded a media player other than the one that was preinstalled on your computer, make sure the media player is from a reputable company to avoid future problems with your computer.
Make sure the media player you want to change your default settings to is installed on your computer's hard drive. If it is not, there wis no way of using it for your media files. Some media file formats may not be available for playback if the media player you have chosen does not support the file format. For example, Windows Media Player plays MP3 and WMA, but some operating systems do not support WMA. Therefore, your WMA files will not work in the player you chose. The file will have to be converted for compatibility purposes. (See Resources for more information on file formats and conversions.)
