Things You'll Need:
- Shampoo and conditioner (for chemically treated hair)
- Detangler
- Wide-toothed comb
-
Step 1
Wait at least 24 hours after perming to wash your hair. For best results, consider waiting as long as 72 hours.
-
Step 2
Select a shampoo and conditioner that are specifically made for chemically treated hair. These shampoos are more gentle and do not contain harsh ingredients that might dry out permed hair.
-
Step 3
Lather hair and rinse well with warm water.
-
Step 4
Use the conditioner after the shampoo. For best results, an amount the size of a nickel is sufficient. Follow the conditioner instructions and leave the conditioner on your hair for the recommended time. Rinse well.
-
Step 5
Dry your hair very gently with a towel to remove as much excess moisture as possible. Do not rub too briskly with the towel, however, because this can create unnecessary tangles and damage the effect of the perm. For best results, try air-drying.
-
Step 6
Spray the detangling product on your hair and comb it through your hair very gently with a wide-toothed comb or, preferably, simply your fingers.
