How to Remove Spray Paint From Vinyl

Spray paint is easy to use on a variety of surfaces. However, it also can be easily sprayed on surfaces that you don't want it on, such as vinyl. The good news is the paint can be removed with solvent and a little elbow grease.

Things You'll Need

• Mineral spirits, OOPS! All-Purpose Remover and Cleaner or Goof Off
• Bristle brush
• Clean rags or a large towel

Instructions

1. Pour or spray a small amount of mineral spirits, OOPS! or Goof Off on the paint spot. Let it sit for a few seconds.

2. Scrub the spot gently with a bristle brush, then rub with a rag or towel. Check to see whether the spray paint is coming out. You should see the transfer onto your rag or towel. You may have to apply more cleaner and keep rubbing until the paint is removed.

3. Wipe vinyl with a clean wet rag or towel to remove any residue. Let dry.

Tips & Warnings

• Remove the spray paint gently---do not rub too hard.

• Use the chemicals in a well-ventilated area.
