      Walk the yard and locate areas where crabgrass is present. Crabgrass blends in with the rest of the lawn but can be identified by looking for matted clumps of grass with darker shades of green.

      Identify areas for treatment and mark with orange spay paint.

      Lightly sprinkle a scoop of baking soda over the marked areas. The crabgrass will die within 24 hours. Be cautious, though, with dosage and application because baking soda also can damage other parts of the lawn.
