Longaberger baskets are some of the most beautiful baskets in the world. They are handmade in America and collected by scores of people throughout the world. The baskets can be used for home decoration by simply setting them on a shelf or as functional items that hold just about anything. To keep your baskets looking beautiful, just like anything else in your home, they are going to need cleaning from time to time. Cleaning the baskets is simple and takes little time if done on a regular schedule with other household chores.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Towel
  • Basket(s)
  • Warm water
  • Mild dish soap
  • Washcloth
  • Mr. Clean Magic Eraser
  • Cotton swab
  1. Step 1

Clear a space large enough to place all the baskets you want to clean. There should be enough room for all the baskets to be placed without touching each other. Cover the area with a towel to catch any excess water.

  2. Step 2

Gather all the baskets you want to clean. Doing this will keep you from running all over the house once you've started the cleaning process.

  3. Step 3

Fill a bucket or sink with warm water. While the water is running, add a drop or two of mild dish soap to the water.

  4. Step 4

Soak a washcloth in the warm, soapy water, and then ring out the washcloth until it no longer drips water when you squeeze it.

  5. Step 5

Wipe the basket gently in all directions with the washcloth to get rid of dirt and dust. If there is stubborn dirt that won't wipe away easily with the washcloth, use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to remove the dirt. If dust or dirt is stuck in the small crevices, use a cotton swab dipped in the warm, soapy water to remove it.

  6. Step 6

Place the baskets on the area you cleared and covered with a towel, and allow them to air dry.

Tips & Warnings
  • Clean baskets immediately after use or whenever you dust and vacuum the room they are in to avoid heavy dust and dirt buildup.
  • Do not scrub the baskets, as this may cause the stain to show wear.
