Things You'll Need:
- Uhm, a MySpace account.
- SOME computer knowledge.
- A URL to the pic you want to use as your background (If you want to go that route instead of using the MySPace blog layouts).
-
Step 1
Okay, so you have a MySpace. You've customized your profile page. You want to start writing in your little blog because, hey, you gotta vent or you just wanna write what you are thinking or whatever.. Well, you notice that your blog looks friggin' boring! You've seen other people's MySpace blogs and, WTF?? ~They got colored font, tables, even a pretty back ground! How'd they do it?? Trust me, it's not that hard. There is a page in your myspace that you can go to that is a similar concept (somewhat) to the same page you go to when you edit or customize your MySpace profile. Once your logged on and you are on your "home page", go to the upper right hand corner drop down menu where you see Home, Mail, Profile, Friends, etc. Mouse over Profile. Go down to My Blog and Click on it. Once you are on your blog page, you should see
Post New Blog
Manage Blog
Customize Blog
Email to a Friend
(This list is most likely located under your default pic.)
Click on "Customize Blog"
Now you will see the page where "the magic happens".. LOL!! -
Step 2
Now it is all up to your own personal preferences. Do you want something simple? Do you just want one solid color of a back ground and colored tables and font? Do you want a pre-made MySpace blog layout (YES, they DO make these now!!) If that is the case, you will go to the site that has these layouts (which I will include in my links below), and then you will enter the code in the "Header HTML" box (at the bottome of the "Page Header section"). In the "Side Module" section, you can customize just exactly what information about you that you want to include on your blog page (i.e. gender, status, age, sign, city, etc...). You can even customize what you want your friends' comments will appear like on your blog! Basically, you get the idea.. I don't wanna go into elaborate detail because I feel like this is just something that YOU have to experiment with for a little while before really becoming accustomed to what the hell you are doing (cuz that's how it was for me)!!
-
Step 3
Now... If you don't want to bother finding a blog layout (these ARE new, so there is not too much to choose from out there), and you just want to add your own picture or background from a image hosting site like Photobucket, you will do this in the "Background Settings" section. I think the thing that may be confusing about doing this is that most MySpacers are use to using an HTML code for their background. You don't use an HTML code for your MySpace blog background. What you DO use is a "direct link".. (example ~ http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q68/purrcy_7880/LittleMissTrouble.jpg). THAT is what you will enter where you see "Background Image:". Okay, if your URL is too long and for some reason, it won't let you insert that URL, you will have to go to tinypic.com or tinyurl.com, and upload your pic and generate a smaller URL to put in the box. Yeah, it's a pain and probably more trouble than it's even worth... but hey, it's fun! =D
-
Step 4
The last section is "Your own Additional Style Sheet". I don't know a whole lot about this section, all I know is that if you are one of them "die-hard" MySpacers, this is where you can put additional codes that may hide certain sections in your blog (such as the myspace ad or header or other ads on the page). If you know of any other purpose for this section, please.. by all means, let me know what I can do with it! I love learning new little "MySpace hacks"!! Happy Blogging! ~Only bummer is that you don't get PAID to blog on MySpace!~
