Step 1
Before finding books to sell, familiarize yourself with Amazon.com marketplace and how the selling process works. Then, you'll be ready to stock up on books and start filling orders.
-
Step 2
One of the best places to find books to sell on Amazon marketplace is local library book sales. Many libraries hold used book sales once or twice a year and the books usually sell for fifty cents to two dollars each. Some of the books are ex-library books which aren't as desirable, but you can also find donated books that are almost brand new. Call your local libraries and ask when their next sale will be held.
-
Step 3
Secondhand and thrift stores are excellent places to find books to sell. Books can get picked over pretty quickly with so many people selling online these days. Find out when they put out fresh books each day and be there first for the best selection.
-
Step 4
Estate sales are another good place to find quality books to sell on Amazon marketplace. This is usually less competitive than library sales and thrift stores, and you can sometimes find rare and unusual books being sold for very little. Get there early.
-
Step 5
Yard sales and garage sales are another good source of used books for resale, but can be hit-or-miss. Look in the classifieds and find sales in affluent areas that list books as one of their offerings. Be there early!
-
Step 6
Call local churches and let them know you buy used books. Churches periodically clean out their libraries and may let you purchase their books inexpensively. Religious books sell quite well on Amazon marketplace.
-
Step 7
Have a business card and flyer printed up saying that you buy used books. Give them to everyone you know. Post them on bulletin boards in libraries and grocery stores.
-
Step 8
Put flyers in the mailboxes of homes that are for sale. When the people move, they probably won't want to take all of those heavy books with them. Offer to buy the entire lot if they have a good collection. Network with local realtors and have them promote your business.
