How to Make Delicious Sheer Khurma
Sheer khurma is a sweet dish that typically is served on Eid day, one of the major Muslim holidays. The word "sheer" means sweetened milk, while "khorma" means dried dates, so the dish is literally dates in sweetened milk. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 2 cups vermicelli
- 1 cup dry dates
- 1/2 gallon milk
- 1 cup almonds
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 teaspoons rose water

Put the almonds in warm water for 20 minutes. Peel and cut into long pieces.

Pour the milk in a large pan and cook on medium-high heat for 30 minutes. Keep stirring the milk or it will boil over. The milk should reduce by three-quarters.

Add the vermicelli, lower the heat and keep stirring for 20 minutes.

Remove the seeds from the dry dates and cut the dates in elongated pieces. Each dry date should make about four to six pieces. Add the pieces to the milk and vermicelli mixture.

Add the almonds.

Add the sugar and cook for 10 minutes.

Add the rose water and turn off the heat.

Serve in a bowl and garnish with pistachios.
