Step 1
Learn a language at LiveMochaStart your language journey at LiveMocha. (Link in 'Resources' below) This is a free, online language learning center that combines normal lessons along with a great online community of people from many countries. You can choose from languages as wide-ranged as Spanish to Romanian. Because there are many other members from around the world on Livemocha, it allows you to chat online with a local in your desired language, and let them critique your speaking skills to work on your pronounciation.
-
Step 2
Next, visit your local library. Often they have more expensive language learning materials like Pimsleur or Rosetta Stone available for you to check out on a temporary basis. Also, once you are a little more advanced in your language, you can check out books in that language to practice your reading skills.
-
Step 3
Practice learning a language with a friendLastly, try and meet someone that already speaks the language that you are learning. Often, if you are friends, they may be happy to help you learn the language just to be nice. Or, maybe you know how to fix cars or could mow their lawn and you can offer to help them out as a trade off. Speaking with someone in person is one of the best ways to practice your new language.
