Step 1
Assess your wardrobe. Do you have clothing that does not fit correctly? Any with stains or wear? If so you need a plan of action. Can poorly fitting pieces be brought to a tailor? If so, get them altered. Stains or wear means it has to go.

Assess your hair. Is it in an up to date style? Are you free of split ends? Consider a quality cut if you are in need. That does not mean expensive. You can get a good cut anywhere as long as you are realistic about your hair type (curly, wavy or straight) and the amount of work you are really going to put in on a daily basis.

Step 3
Look at your make up. Not just in the morning, but also half way and near the end of your day, does it stay on? Are you seeing make up creases? Do the colors work well with your face? If not then consider a stop at your local make up counter. If you are budget lite then spend on the basics (like foundation and concealer) at the counter, and get the rest at a drug store.
