Bubbles produce such awe, and wonder, making them akin to a spiritual experience.
I have 17 large bubble wands, (5 various 12” wide styles from Dollar General for $1.00 each). I guess that makes me a young bubble enthusiast of 62 years..
In this article I’m going to tell you how to buy my best wand (obsolete) and make my best recipe. Please see my other articles on the subject: “How to photograph (Photoshop) your friends and family inside bubbles” and "How to Enhance Bubbles in Wedding Bubble Line Photo."

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Minimally
  • Joy dishwashing soap
  • White Karo syrup

    1. Unbelievably, the weather makes a difference, warm humid days best, cold windy the worst. There is great leeway in what you use as ingredients in recipe and wands. So have fun finding what works best for you!

  2. Step 2

    2. The Recipes:
6 to 12 Cups of water
1 to 2 Cups of Joy (regular original) liquid dish soap
¾ Cup of White Karo syrup
2 Tbs. to ¼ Cup glycerin (skin protectant) optional, available at pharmacy $5.
    ½ to 1 C Cornstarch optional
1 to 2 Tbs. of baking POWDER optional
¾ Cup of Vinegar optional makes bubbles fly higher

    3. My favorite wand of all time is the Bib Bubbler. It appears Spin Master has stopped manufacturing them. I want to tell you how to buy it now, before you can’t get it any more. Buy for $11.47 on clearance at : QVC at http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/params.aol_refer.false.tpl.detail.msn_refer.false.item.T21075.ref.GBA?cm_ven=GOOGLEBASE&cm_cat=Sports%20&cm_pla=Toys&cm_ite=T21075

    4. If you want to make it a whole family event. You can have a small wand operator feeding bubbles for the Big Bubbler operator to catch inside big bubbles.

  5. Step 5

    5. Keep your recipe in clean gallon milk or other container. Use $1. disposable large aluminum turkey cooking pans to dip wands into. Use funnel or spouted measuring cup to fill Big Bubbler.

There was hardly any bubbles in original picture.

Tips & Warnings
  • Solution works better after it sits for a while
  • don’t fill your container up completely you need room to mix it up
  • Too much foam is not good
  • Don’t let cornstarch solution stay overnight in Big Bubbler it coagulates and difficult to get out.
  • The Big Bubbler does look like a sword. You will have to watch children.
  • The Big Bubbler is fragile. I have had mine for 3 years no problem.
  • The only negative ratings on web site were about the sloppy bubble solution that comes with it; and runs out right away. Just use gallon recipe in step 3 to solve problem.
