How to Make Ice Castles With Sugar Cubes

Looking for a fun and inexpensive indoor activity to do with kids on a cold day? Building ice castles out of sugar cubes is something that kids ages 3 and up will enjoy. It keeps them busy without costing you a lot of money. You can even hold contests to see who can build the tallest, roundest or prettiest castle.

Things You'll Need

  • Cardboard
  • Sugar cubes
  • Bowl Spoon
  • 2 Egg whites
  • 3 Cups powdered sugar
  • Pastry bag
  • Size 2 tip

Instructions

    • 1

      Mix the egg whites and the sugar together. It should form a thick paste that holds the sugar cubes together.

      Spread a layer of the paste onto the cardboard and push sugar cubes down into it to form a foundation.

      Spread another layer of paste on top of the layer of sugar cubes. Add another layer of sugar cubes.

      Repeat Step 3 until the castle body reaches the desired height. Then add layers of cubes on both ends of the body to make the towers.

      Fill a pastry bag with the rest of the paste. Using a size 2 tip, draw on the doors and windows.
