Tall boots with many laces can be annoying to constantly lace up and adjust, especially if the boots are intended for practical rather than fashionable uses. Rather than struggle daily with laces, you can attach zipper inserts to your boots. A zipper insert is a plain boot zipper, which is attached to a section of boot fabric that has eyelets lining each side of the zipper. You can thread a shoelace through the eyelets on the zipper insert, securing the insert to the boot. The insert then functions just like a regular boot zipper.

Take one shoelace and one boot and turn the boot so that it is facing you.

Thread the shoelace through the eyelet on the bottom right side of the boot, from the underside.

Take the end of the shoelace that is on the top side of the eyelet. Thread it through the bottom right eyelet on the zipper insert, from the outside. Adjust the shoelace so that it is even on both sides.

Take the part of the shoelace that is on the left. Insert the shoelace through the eyelet that is third from the bottom on the zipper insert, from the underside.

Take the part of the shoelace that is on the right. Insert the shoelace through the eyelet that is second from the bottom on the zipper insert, from the underside.

Take the same part of the shoelace from Step 5 and insert it through the eyelet that is second from the bottom on the boot, from the outside.

Insert the same part of the shoelace through the eyelet that is fourth from the bottom on the zipper insert, from the underside.

Take the other part of the shoelace, which you used in Step 4. Insert the shoelace through the eyelet that is third from the bottom on the boot, from the outside.

Continue this pattern all the way up the shoe. Tie the shoelace ends together at the top.

Take another shoelace and lace the right side of the boot together in the same way. Repeat all steps on the other boot.
