Tissue paper has a beautiful delicate look, similar to flowers. Creating a flower out of tissue paper is a very simple craft that can be completed in minutes. It creates a very dramatic effect with little effort and makes a wonderful decoration to enhance the atmosphere of your party.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tissue paper
  • String or twist-ties
  1. Step 1

Select the pieces of tissue paper you would like to use for the flower. Sheets of tissue paper vary in size depending on where you purchase them. The flower will be about half the width of the sheet of paper and fullness will vary depending on the number of sheets used. Generally 6-7 pieces is sufficient, but the more you add, the fuller the flower will be. Use the same color, or alternate different colors, depending on your desired outcome. Layer the pieces of paper on top of one another. Fold the paper like an accordion with about 1 inch between the folds.

  2. Step 2

Take a twist-tie or piece of string and tie the center of the folded tissue paper. You can use the string to later attach the flower for decoration. If this is the case, use a long enough piece of string to attach the flower to the desired object or location.

  3. Step 3

Create the flower. Holding the center of the paper, begin folding back each individual piece of tissue paper toward the center. Start on one side of the flower. When each layer has been pulled toward the center, switch sides. Once the second side is complete, arrange any pieces that seem out of shape to finalize the flower.

  4. Step 4

Create different flowers. These instructions are for the most common and basic type of tissue paper flower. Cut the edges of the sides of your tissue paper into pointed leaf shapes to create a different look. Be creative and experiment to create other styles of flowers.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cut the paper in half to create smaller flowers.
