Building with Legos is fun and a great way to be creative. In this article you will learn how build a basic Lego car from common Lego pieces.

Things You'll Need:

  • To build this car, you will need the following pieces:
  • four two by eight plates
  • four wheels
  • six two nub beams
  • two axel connectors
  • one round plate
  • one half bushing
  • two full bushings
  • one number six axel
  • one number twelve axel
  • one steering wheel
  • two ten nub plates
  • two four nub plates
  • two four nub beams
  • two twelve nub beams
  1. Step 1
    The Lego parts you will need

    First, you will need to know the names of the various Lego parts that you are going to use to build the car out of. Use the image for this step to help you. The red pieces are called beams, the yellow pieces are plates and the skinny black piece is an axel. These Lego pieces come in different sizes, which are measured by the number of nubs (round connectors on the top of the Lego piece)the piece has. In the picture, the short red beam is a four nub beam, the wide yellow plate is a two by eight plate, and the axel is a number six axel because it is the length of a six nub piece. The other pieces in the picture include a round plate (white) an axel connector (beige), a wheel, a steering wheel (gray), a full bushing (larger, gray) and a half bushing (smaller, gray). These pieces can be found in most basic Lego kits.

  2. Step 2

    Now you are ready to build. First you will need one round plate, two four nub beams, two four nub plates, two two by eight plates, one number six axel and one half bushing. Assemble the pieces as they are in the picture.

  3. Step 3

    Now you will need one two by four plate and two twelve nub beams. Assemble the pieces as they are in the picture.

  4. Step 4

    Now assemble steps two and three as they are in the picture.

  5. Step 5

    Now you need one full bushing, two two nub beams, one two by four plate and two ten nub plates. Assemble the pieces as they are in the picture.

  6. Step 6

    Now you need one full bushing, four two nub beams, two two by eight plates, two axel connectors and a number twelve axel. Assemble the pieces as they are in the picture.

  7. Step 7
    Vroom Vroom!
    Vroom Vroom!

    Finally you will need four wheels and the steering wheel. Assemble the pieces as they are in the picture and you car is complete!

Tips & Warnings
  • If you don't have the parts used in the article, don't worry. If you are creative, you can substitute what you do have and still be able to create a vehicle of your own.
