So you've taken the plunge and started a dog walking business. Now, you need to find your first clients. Here's how to market a dog walking business.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

To market a dog walking business, design a clever business card that shows a happy dog being walked. Come up with catchy name for your business and a clever tagline. Be original so your business will stand apart from the crowd.

  2. Step 2

Place your cards on bulletin boards in grocery stores, schools, libraries, and other public areas. You can also create a flyer with a tear off flaps listing your business's phone number.

  3. Step 3

Ask to display a rack with your business cards in local veterinary offices. If you can form a relationship with veterinarians in your area, they'll likely recommend you to their clients.

  4. Step 4

Visit local dog parks with business cards and flyers. Talk to dog owners and let them know about the dog walking services you offer.

  5. Step 5

Participate in charity dog walks and network with local animal shelters and SPCA's. Offer to walk shelter animals for free. Leave your cards on display at the shelter.

  6. Step 6

Leave cards or flyers at local dog grooming studios, doggy day cares, and dog kennels. These facilities are excellent places to market a dog walking business.

  7. Step 7

Team up with other complimentary dog related small businesses such as grooming studios and cross promote one another.

  8. Step 8

To market a dog walking business, it's important to be persistent. When you get your first clients, be prompt and reliable and you'll quickly gain more clients through word of mouth.
