Are you 11 to 15 years old and looking to start a babysitting business in your neighborhood? If so, ask your parents to sign you up for one of the Red Cross Babysitting Classes offered at your local Red Cross. Training is only one day and it’s inexpensive. You will learn about leadership, professionalism, safety, child development, basic child care and care for emergencies. At the end of the day, you receive a booklet and babysitting certification card. Upon completion, you will be ready to start advertising your new babysitting business!

    Sign up for a babysitting training class at your local Red Cross. Receiving babysitting certification is an honor. Plus, it will really help your babysitting business!

    Make a babysitting flyer

    Make a cute babysitting flyer. Have your parents, siblings, or friends help! Be sure the flyer communicates that you are safe and responsible. List your Red Cross babysitting certification, if you have it. Give all the important details: name, phone number, your experience level, references, you availability. Listing a rate is optional; see next step.

  3. Step 3

    Figure out what the going rate is for babysitting business in your area. If there’s a lot of competition, you might want to lower your rate a little and consider doing light housekeeping, in addition to sitting, at no extra charge. If you do this, you can add it to your babysitting flyer as an extra selling point. Housekeeping is ALWAYS appreciated and valued by parents.
