Things You'll Need:
- Mac OS X 10.6 Installation disc
- External Hard drive
- Your Mac
-
Step 1
First off make sure you back up your computer using an external hard drive. Doesn't have to time capsule, could be any as long as it's compatible with mac. (I myself have a Western Digital MyBook and it works fine for me and is compatible with macs time capsule feature.) Not saying that anything may happen, but just to be safe.
-
Step 2
Once everything is backed up, go ahead and insert the Snow Leopard disc and select install on Mac HD. The beauty of snow leopard is that you don't have to erase your hard drive just because you're adding snow leopard, it acts as if it's nothing more than an update.
-
Step 3
Now, snow leopard will install on the mac. This process will take about an hour to an hour and a half but once the install is complete allow your mac to reboot.
-
Step 4
Once it's up, click on the apple logo on the top left hand side of the screen and select "Software Update" since there may be a few new updates for some of the new applications on snow leopard.
-
Step 5
Once that's done you're all set to enjoy Snow Leopard.
