Things You'll Need:
- items to sell
- internet connection
- digital camera
-
Step 1
Make Money on CraigslistCollect the items you wish to sell to make money on Craigslist. Make sure the items are clean, working, and in good condition. If you're selling extra clothes, wash and iron them. If you're selling extra electronics, make sure you have the chargers, user guides, and startup disks. It's important to sell items in their best condition in order to increase the value of the items, sell them at a higher price, and ultimately make more money.
-
Step 2
Photograph Extra Junk for SalePhotograph the items you want to sell for extra money on Craigslist. Make sure the pictures are clear, and show the items for sale in the condition they will be sold. In my experience, it's better to include an actual photo of your item, rather than a photo of the item found online.
-
Step 3
Craigslist PostingsVisit Craigslist.org and select your city. Then select the "For Sale" category. In the upper right hand corner, select "Post". Then make a category selection for your item. If you're not sure where your item belongs, visit the Craigslist categories and read other posts to find similar listings to your item. Do not cross-list your item in more than one category.
-
Step 4
Create your item posting. Give it a title, a price, your location, and a reply-to email. If you select anonymize, Craigslist will hide your real email address from view. People will only see it if you reply to their emails. In order to make the most money and sales, select an appropriate price. Google the current value of your item, and select an appropriate price that reflects the value, condition, and new price of your item. You'll sell the most and make the most money if your items are competitively priced.
-
Step 5
Craigslist Post DescriptionIn your Craigslist posting description, describe your item. Give details about the item that may not be visible in the photo - color, size, make, model, year, condition, etc. Add any additional details about you as a seller (cash only, must pick up, available on weekends, etc). Be succinct and clear, and check for spelling errors.
-
Step 6
Add Pictures to Craigslist PostTo add images to your Craigslist posting, click the "Add / Edit images" button. Here you can browse and upload pictures of your item from your computer. This is extremely important because buyers want to see pictures of what they're purchasing.
-
Step 7
Submit your posting to Craigslist. You'll receive an email with a link that allows you to confirm your posting. Once you've done that, your posting will be added to Craigslist and you'll be ready to start receiving offers, selling your items, and making extra money.
