Step 1) The first step in pricing a landscaping job is asking what the CUSTOMER WANTS. Walk around his or her yard to see how you can help them with their landscaping needs. Write it all down. Then proceed to give them a bid.

Step 2) BID--Take into account the amount of supplies you'll need for the job, when you will be able to get to the job, how long the job will take, and how many of your employers/independent contractors it will take to get the job done. Write a thorough estimate but leave some wiggle room.

Step 3) Have the customer look over the bid and see if she or he agreees with your assessment. Is there anything that needs to be changed? Modified? If so, do it at this time. Ask the customer if he or she would like to proceed.

Step 4) Get 20% down for the job so you can afford to buy much of the supplies needed. This should be standard for any sales over $1,000 dollars. Proceed with you job when it is scheduled.

Step 5) I hope this has been a good beginner's guide on how to price a landscaping job. Being meticulous and conservative in your estimate helps! Good luck!
