How to Wire an RJ45 Connector
An RJ45 connector is commonly used to connect Ethernet cable to various Ethernet devices. It's a type of 8 pin 8 contact (8P8C) connector that connects each of the eight wires in an Ethernet cable to a separate pin in the connector. These eight wires each have their own insulating sheath, and the entire set of wires is surrounded by an outer protective jacket.

1
Trim the end of the cable by making a clean cut at a right angle all the way through the cable with the cutting portion of the stripper. Carefully strip 1/2 inch of the outer jacket from the cable without damaging the inner wires.
-
2
Identify the wires. The pin 1 wire will be white with a green strip or white with orange stripes, depending on the specific interface. The pin 8 wire will be brown with white stripes or solid brown.

-
3
Arrange the wires so that the pin 1 wire is on your left and the pin 8 wire is on your right. Ensure that the wires don't cross or overlap.
-
4
Orient the RJ45 connector so that the interface of the connector is facing you with the securing clip on top. Insert the eight wires into the connector so that each wire goes all the way into its designated channel.
-
5
Place the connector into the crimping tool and ensure that the connector is properly seated. Close the crimping tool with just enough pressure for the connectors' contacts to make electrical contact with all eight wires. Excessive pressure will break the connector.
