How to Clean an XBox CD

Dust and grime, even fingerprints, can prevent an XBox CD from properly playing. That's why it's a good idea to clean your disc after every dozen or so plays.

Things You'll Need

• XBox CD
• Two soft cloths
• Disc cleaner, like Perma-Spin
• CD cradle (optional)

Instructions

1. Hold your CD, shiny side up, with the index finger of your left hand in the hole and your thumb on the edge, and with your thumb put pressure against the disc so it is held securely in your hand.

2. You may also use a plastic disc cradle, of the kind that comes with certain cleaning products such as Perma-Spin.

3. Gently spray cleaner on the disc surface so that it forms a mist. If drops form you've used too much.

4. Wipe the disc with the cloth in a circular motion, clockwise, a dozen or so times.

5. Buff dry with a second cloth.

Tips & Warnings

• If there's more dirt than grease on your disc, you may use warm water instead of a cleaner.

• Use only soft dust cloths. Avoid paper towels or any rough rag that could scratch the CD.
