When a pregnant woman's due date has come and passed, being pregnant becomes increasingly uncomfortable. Some foods, such as pineapple and mangoes, can stimulate contractions. Natural activities such as sex, walking, light exercise, massage and bouncing on a ball can often induce labor. The ball technique is a gentle way to induce labor and is a good option if you are too tired or unable to walk around much.

Instructions

    • 1

Sit on the yoga ball with your feet spread shoulder-width apart.

    • 2

Rock your hips in a gentle circular motion. Switch directions every 10 rotations.

    • 3

Bounce lightly on the ball. Continue this activity for 20 to 30 minutes if possible.

    • 4

The movement of your hips and pelvis will encourage the baby to drop toward the cervix. It also helps open the pelvis, preparing it for delivery.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ask your spouse or use a nearby table or ledge for support in case you lose your balance.

  • Consult with your doctor prior to starting to induce labor on your own.
