Every dog deserves to feel beautiful. A bandanna around the collar is a great way to give your dog some character, and the best way to find a bandanna that perfectly matches your dog's coat is to create that bandanna yourself.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Measure the collar length around your dog's neck with a measuring tape.

  2. Step 2

Cut your fabric into a perfect square with a diagonal measurement that is slightly longer (a couple of inches) than your dog's collar length. A 1-by-1 square usually fits most average-sized dogs.

  3. Step 3

Add to the material's design by painting the fabric with acrylics. Some fun ideas are dog bones, dog bowls and paw prints. Let the paint dry overnight.

  4. Step 4

Fold the material in half diagonally to make an isosceles triangle. Make sure your painted side is on the outside.

  5. Step 5

Tie the bandanna around your dog's collar, with the tip of the triangle pointing down its spine.

Tips & Warnings
  • Choose a fabric that has a base color or design that complements your dog's coat and fur color.
  • Exercise caution when using acrylic paints. If any is spilled on bare skin, wash it thoroughly before it dries.
