How to Do Vegetable Gardening by the Moon Signs
According to astrologists, the moon spends approximately 2 1/2 days in each sign as it travels the zodiac. Each sign has its own pluses and minuses regarding gardening chores such as planting, cultivating and harvesting. Certain plants do better when planted or harvested during different zodiac signs. Planting anything during some zodiac signs is not recommended; these signs are best for garden maintenance and harvesting.

Do not plant anything when the moon is in the fire sign of Aries. The fire signs of the zodiac (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) are considered barren signs. When the moon is in this position, it is best to cultivate the land, remove weeds and destroy unwanted vegetation. Crops can be harvested during this time.

Plant root crops such as potatoes, carrots and radishes when the moon is in the earth sign of Taurus. Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) are considered fertile signs and ideal for sowing seeds and transplanting. It is also a good time to plant flowering bulbs and leafy vegetables such as cabbage, lettuce and greens. Plant fruit trees such as peaches, pears and plums.

It is also an excellent time to harvest fruits and vegetables for long-term storage.

The water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) are the most fertile class of all of the zodiac signs, with Cancer being the most fertile of all.
