How to Clean a Computer of Viruses

Viruses can make their way onto your computer when you visit a website or download a file containing these infectious files. Viruses can keep you from being able to use certain software programs or they may even compromise any personal information you have saved on the system. Because of the damage done as well as the security threat posed by viruses, you must remove them as soon as possible. Fortunately, there is software that can be used to clean a computer of viruses.

Instructions

1. Download and install the free edition of AVG Anti-Virus (see Resources).

2. Open AVG Anti-Virus.

3. Click "Scan System Now." AVG will begin scanning the computer for viruses.

4. Allow the program to scan for viruses. When one is detected, a box will open in the middle of AVG Anti-Virus.

5. Click the "Delete" button when the virus is found. After you do so, the program will continue to scan the system. Repeat this step for every virus found by AVG Anti-Virus.
