With the price of razors and razor blades steadily increasing, it is no wonder that people are keeping their razors longer and longer. My dad taught me a technique to make your shaving razors last longer and this article will give you the step by step process for making your shaving razors last longer.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Shaving razors
  • A leather strap
  • Mineral oil
  • Small container
  1. Step 1

    Buying the supplies.

To start the process, go to your local hardware store and buy a small leather strap and a small bottle of mineral oil.

  2. Step 2

    Sharpening the shaving razors.

Next, when you are ready to resharpen your shaving razor, take the razor and run it sideways down the leather strap. Just like sharpening a knife. With every sideways swipe, the leather on the strap will sharpen the razor back to its sharpest state.

  3. Step 3

    Adding the mineral oil.

Next, when you have finished sharpening the shaving razor with the leather strap, take a container just big enough for your shaving razors to fit in and fill it up about three quarters of the way up with mineral oil.

  4. Step 4

    Storing the shaving razors.

Lastly, take your shaving razors and store them in the container full of mineral oil. The mineral oil will prolong the life of the razor blades by preventing rust and corrosion.

Tips & Warnings
  • This method for making your shaving razors last longer works with any type of shaving razors and razor blades.
