Nothing looks more striking than a head full of loose, sexy waves. Unfortunately, it can be a challenge to achieve this look if you have straight hair. Here are some simple ways to create loose, wavy hair even if your hair has no natural curl.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

One way to get loose, wavy hair is to lightly dampen your hair and braid it tightly. Keep hair braided until it's completely dry, then undo hair and lightly brush the waves into place. The more braids you create, the wavier your hair will be.

  2. Step 2

Another simple way to get loose, wavy hair is to use a crimping iron. Crimping irons can be purchased at most drugstores and beauty supply houses. You can control the size of the waves by the plate you use on the iron. To get loose waves, use a plate with widely spaced ridges. For tighter waves, use a plate with ridges that are closer together.

  3. Step 3

Create loose, wavy hair with a curling iron by rolling the ends around the iron and tilting the iron vertically. Do this over your entire head and then lightly brush the waves into place.

  4. Step 4

If you have some natural wave in your hair, apply curling gel to hair and scrunch it using your hands. Allow it to dry completely.

  5. Step 5

Another option for loose, wavy hair is to get a loose permanent. Keep in mind that this can be damaging to your hair. Try other options first.

  6. Step 6

Want a super fast way to get wavy hair? Invest in a wig with loose waves and wear it on special occasions. It's fun to completely change your look for an evening!
