Most people have trouble taking pills so it makes sense that giving dogs pills can be quite a chore. If you can't get your dog to take a pill without it being a major struggle, you might need a little incentive to get her to take her medicine. Try these tricks that I have successfully used with my dog!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Spread a little bit of peanut butter on the pill and give it to your dog. Most dogs love peanut butter and since it sticks well to the pill it's not easy for them to eat the peanut butter and then spit out the pill.

  2. Step 2

Wrap the pill in a piece of cheese. Fold up the cheese nice and small so that the pill is totally enclosed in the cheese. Or try a cheese spread, that would work similar to the peanut butter.

  3. Step 3

Mix the pill in her dog food and then add a tablespoon or two of beef broth. Try to put the beef broth right on the pill. Or instead of beef broth, mix a little bit of shredded cheese or scrambled egg to her food.

  4. Step 4

Take a small slice of bread and put a thin layer of cream cheese on it. Put the pill onto the cream cheese and then mold the bread into a ball. The cream cheese and bread are both soft and the pill will be lost inside the bread. This is the method I use most often for giving my dog a pill and it works every time!
