How to Block Friends on Facebook

Facebook is a great place to find old friends and coworkers, but what if you do not want your old flame or your boss to find you? Remember, people can see everything that you type. Lawsuits and firing binges have happened because of social networking sites. Although not perfect, getting around this problem is easy with the block feature.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• A computer
• An Internet connection
• A Facebook account
• A friend you want to block

1. Go to http://www.facebook.com

2. Login to your Facebook account using your email address and password.

3. From the upper right corner click on Settings.

4. Scroll down to the Privacy section and click on Manage.

5. Enter the person's first and last name into the Person field.

6. Facebook will show a list of names. Find the one you wish to block and click the Block button.

7. Look at the Blocked list and confirm the person is on the list before closing the page.

8. Search for the person from the Search field. You cannot see people you have blocked.

Tips & Warnings

• You can only block someone that is already on Facebook.
• Although it might be difficult for the person to find you, there are always ways around the blocking system. Never accept friendship from people you do not know unless it does not matter to you.

on 9/24/2009 This is great, but I have a question. Say I am blocking someone but my friend is friends with this person. My friend has tagged pictures of me in her photo albums. Will the blocked person still be able to see these photos of me?
