Things You'll Need:
- 5 apples, cut into small slices
- 1 cup oats (use oats labeled gluten free-I like Bob's Red Mill)
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 3 tbs. olive oil
- 2 tbs. brown rice flour (regular flour is ok)
- molasses
- maple syrup
- cinnamon
- 1 cup walnuts
-
Step 1
Use a little olive oil to line a 9x9 inch baking pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Leaving the skins on the apples if you like, cut up 5 apples and place them in the bottom of the pan. Sprinkle the apples with the brown rice flour. Next, drizzle the apples with molasses and maple syrup. Add the raisins and stir.
-
Step 2
In a medium sized bowl, toss the oats and walnuts with the olive oil. Drizzle molasses and maple syrup over the mixture to sweeten to taste. The oats should be moist. Pour the oat mixture over the apples, and use a spoon to cover the apples as evenly as possible. Sprinkle cinnamon over the oats.
-
Step 3
Bake the cinnamon apple crisp for 45 minutes. You'll love the caramel-like sauce that forms with the apples. This dessert is naturally gluten free. Enjoy your apple crisp with ice cream if you like. It's a perfect after-dinner treat for fall.
