Step 1
MOISTURIZE
Moisturize your skin from the inside - out. It's important to seek out thick, rich moisturizers to lubricate and protect your skin, but to truly boost your moisture factor, try taking flaxseed oil supplements to add heart-healthy Omega 3 to your diet and skin. -
Step 2
EXFOLIATE
Remove those old, dry and flaky layers by using a weekly exfoliator. Choose one that is gentle and made up of the highest quality, natural ingredients. Make sure to moisturize immediately after each weekly exfoliation. -
Step 3
COLD SHOWERS
Avoid hot showers because they are drying. A hot bath or shower will excessively dry out your skin leaving it inflamed and dry. Sub out your hot showers for a cooler temperature shower or bath. It doesn't have to be ice cold, but slightly cool temperatures with relieve any itching discomfort and will also help retain natural moisture levels in your skin. Keep your showers and baths limited to 15 minutes max as lengthy exposures to water can contribute to dry skin. -
Step 4
HUMIDIFIERS
It's a great idea to have a home humidifier to your bedroom at night. This will add moisture into your bedroom (the room where you probably spend the most time) and will hydrate your skin, hair and nasal passages. -
Step 5
SEE YOUR DERMATOLOGIST
If dry skin persists, make an appointment to your doctor ASAP as your dry skin could be a form of dermatitis which requires prescription strength medication.
