Summer time is barbecue time. A tasty barbecue needs some great side dishes and green beans are a good choice. Or make them for Thanksgiving. They are spicy and are delicious with mashed potatoes.
Green beans contain less calories and are healthy. Combine them with your favorite meat and potatoes.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 tablespoon white sesame seeds
  • 1 pound green beans
  • salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • coarse salt
  1. Step 1

Toast the sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat, tossing frequently until golden for about 4 minutes.

  2. Step 2

Wash beans and remove ends; boil them in water for about 2-3 minutes until they are a bit soft (don't boil them too long!). Drain them well.

  3. Step 3

Heat vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet until oil shimmers and smokes. Add beans and stir-fry them for 5 minutes until they begin to caramelize and brown at the edges. Add crushed pepper, sesame oil, coarse salt and toasted sesame seeds. Toss a minute more.

  4. Step 4

Green beans are ideal in a combination with potatoes. Serve them with mashed potatoes, baked potatoes or fried potatoes.
