Things You'll Need:
- Cream eye shadow
- Small tapered tip makeup brush
- Translucent powder or highlighter
-
Step 1
Cream eye shadows are a beauty staple for me. They are ideal in any weather. They don't crease in humidity and they apply smoothly and effortlessly over dry skin. The colors do not flake or get cakey as the day goes on. Cream shadows are so forgiving of any small lines around your eyelids. The best part...this makeup application just takes a few moments!
For all eye makeup, I opt to use a small tapered eye makeup brush. They make applying eye shadow much easier and colors go on quite even. First start by lightly brushing a translucent powder, or a highlighter powder, over your entire lid. Any powder is fine...I like using a honey toned highlighting powder as my base. It's a neutral, flattering tone on almost any skin tone.
There are endless base powders available....go with your favorite. I often pick Bare Minerals Vanilla Sugar. -
Step 2
Cream eye makeup is usually sold in a small tube. Using the same tapered brush, I squeeze out a tiny dab of cream shadow. I apply from the top lash line to the crease of my eye. Using tiny strokes, I evenly coat that entire area. I then softly blend, with my finger, the upper edges of the color.
Unlike powder shadows where you may blend several shades...applying a cream shadow is best with just one single color or tone. Pick your favorite cosmetic brand...nearly all have cream shadows available. I like to use Aveda Uruku Eye Accent. "Umber" is my favorite color... a deep bronze-y brown. -
Step 3
If you like to wear an eye liner on your upper lid, it's best to wait five minutes until to cream is completely dry. This will make application of the liner much easier. Once cream is set, I use a liner pencil and then gently smudge into my upper lash line.
