Instructions

    • 1

Locate a spot in your home where you want to install the hidden security camera. When you unpack the camera, check the contents for an RCA video cable, an AC power adapter or battery pack, and an instruction manual. Straighten the RCA cable to measure its length. If the cable is too short and will not reach your video cassette recorder or television, which is used to record and monitor the camera, you need to either purchase a longer RCA cable or relocate your VCR or TV.

    • 2

Plug one end of the RCA video cable into the hidden security camera's video-in jack. Plug the other end of the cable into your VCR's or TV's video-in jack. It's important to note that if you are using a television to monitor the camera, you won't be able to record. Next, plug in the AC power adapter's round plug into the camera then the other plug into a wall outlet. If the camera is battery-powered, install the battery pack or batteries.

    • 3

Turn on the hidden security camera if it has a power switch; some models are always on, which will be indicated in the instruction manual. Turn on your TV or VCR to test the camera. You may have to set your TV or VCR to "Line" or other setting to see the input from the video-in jacks. You should see the area being monitored by the camera. To record, insert a blank tape into your VCR, set the recording speed to "EP" or "SLP" so the VCR will tape the entire day. Finally, press "Record" on your VCR.

Turn off your television and let your VCR record the input from the hidden security camera. Repeat steps for other hidden security cameras in your home.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have an unused VCR available, use it to record from the hidden security camera. Connect the unit to the camera, then hide the VCR in a cabinet or other location.

  • Most newer security cameras will also record on DVRs.

  • When installing the hidden security cameras, make sure all wires are hidden under carpeting, trim or baseboards.
