Fiber is a great tool for weight loss. It bonds to fats, helping them move through our digestive systems so that less of it is absorbed. Fiber can also help us feel fuller while eating less, and encourages our bodies to feel fuller longer. Many of the cultures that eat foods rich in fiber tend to live healthier lives, although we are not sure exactly why. Adding fiber to your diet is easy.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Whole grains
  • Fruits and vegetables
  1. Step 1

Replace your bread with whole grain bread. Be careful: phrases like 100 percent wheat are not the same as 100 percent whole wheat, which is what you should be looking for. You can also choose whole wheat pasta over normal pasta, and brown rice over white.

  2. Step 2

Leave the skin on your potatoes. It is the most fibrous part of the potato, and tastes fine. If you are worried about dirt, just give the tuber a good scrubbing before you cook it.

  3. Step 3

Add a serving of vegetables to at least one meal every day.

  4. Step 4

Eat an apple a day. It makes a great snack, and is fiber rich.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't discount snacks like air popped popcorn. If you eat it without butter, it is a tasty and extremely fiber rich snack.
