How to Make Fringed Flowers
Making fringe flowers from paper is easy to do with the variety of beautiful decorative scrapbook papers available. These fringe flowers are made by attaching the blossom to an ink pen. Create a bouquet to place next to the phone or give them as gifts to your children's teachers. Make up several to have on hand for quick, thoughtful gifts for friends. This is a simple and inexpensive craft, perfect for a teen girl sleepover.

1
Determine which paper will be the smallest, middle and longest petals on your fringe flower. Cut one strip 1-1/2 inches wide, one strip 2 inches wide and one strip 2-1/2 inches wide. They will all be 12 inches long.
-
2
Cut 1/8-inch wide slits to create the flower petal fringe. Cut from one long edge to the other long edge, leaving 1/2-inch intact. Repeat for the whole length on each flower petal strip.

3
Place the widest strip right-side up on your work surface. (Right-side up is the prettiest side, which you want showing on your flower blossom.) Position double-sided tape on the long edge, on the 1/2-inch area that was left intact. Match the middle petal strip, right-side up, on the long taped edge of the widest petal strip, with the 1/2-inch uncut area. Put double-stick tape on the 1/2-inch uncut edge of the middle strip and place the smallest strip on top, right-side up, in the same way. Place double-stick tape on the 1/2-inch uncut edge of the smallest strip.

4
Cap the ballpoint pen. Place the other end of the pen on the 1/2-inch area of the smallest petal, on the end of the stacked strips. (Note: Only a 1/2 inch of the pen is placed on the petal.) Position with the fringe extended up and beyond the pen end. Roll the three layers of petals around the end of the pen.
-
5
Insert your finger into the center of the rolled layers and press the fringe down and out. Turn the pen upside down and press the blossom out flat. Insert a dollop of craft glue in the center of the flower and place the bead on top. Allow the glue to dry.
