How to Be an Actor
So many young people have aspirations to become an actor. It may be a job they love, but it is not necessarily an easy career to get into. Acting takes a lot of study and work. The best actors are always learning and taking classes to boost their creativity. Use the following steps to help make your dream of becoming an actor a reality.

Take acting classes. Go to a local community college or theater that offers acting classes. Learn everything you can from these classes or seminars. Go a little deeper and go to college for acting.

Watch plays and movies. Scrutinize the actors and the methods they are using. Take note of their gestures and body movements as well as their facial movements.

Read books on acting. Take notes on any techniques that the book mentions. Practice these techniques in front of a mirror. Find an audience for whom you can perform. Ask people to give you feedback on how believable your character is.

Practice different acting techniques. Sensory recall is a great technique to use when you need to cry. Think of a time in your life that made you cry. Remember this sad time while you are saying your line.

Go to auditions. Find auditions in your local area first. Get involved in local theater productions to get credits added to your acting resume.

Get an agent. Search for an agent that meets your needs and finds jobs you want. Do not work with any agent that asks you for money up front. Most reputable agents do not advertise. Look for agents that are registered with the Screen Actors Guild. Ask the agent how much they expect for commission. Most agents only take ten percent. Put together a portfolio with a few professionally photographed pictures and your acting credits and submit them to a few agents.
