Things You'll Need:
- Flexible beading wire
- Ruler
- Wire nippers
- Two large crimp tubes
- Toggle clasp
- Crimp pliers
- Bead assortment
- Large focal bead
- Scotch tape
- Beading mat or board (optional)
-
Step 1
Cut four 20-inch lengths of beading wire.
-
Step 2
Hold the four strands together and insert a crimp tube over the strands.
-
Step 3
A crimp tube secures the wire on the clasp.Add one half of the toggle clasp to the strands, then pass the strand ends back through the crimp tube, creating a loop around the toggle clasp.
-
Step 4
Crimp pliers squeeze the crimp tube flat, then bend it in half.Squeeze the crimp tube closed with the crimp pliers.
-
Step 5
Wire nippers trim the excess wire from below the crimp.Use the wire nippers to trim the ends that stick out of the crimp tube. Be careful not to accidentally cut one of the long strands meant for stringing.
-
Step 6
Arrange the beads on a bead mat, beading board or a towel (so they don't roll away) and decide what order you want to string them. You can make all four strands the same or place only certain beads on certain strands for coordinated strands rather than identical ones.
-
Step 1
Use the beading wire end like a needle and working with one strand at a time, pick up the beads to add to that wire.
-
Step 2
Add beads until you come to the strand's middle, approximately 8 inches from the end.
-
Step 3
String beads one strand at a time.Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the other strands until you have the first half of all four strands filled with beads. Now it's time to add a focal bead that joins all four strands together.
-
Step 1
A focal bead is added at the necklace's center.Hold the strand ends together and place the focal bead on all fours strands at the same time. This has the effect of joining the strands in the middle of the necklace.
-
Step 2
Work with the strands individually and finish stringing beads on each one until the second half of each is as long as the first half, and you have an inch or so of wire left for adding the clasp.
-
Step 3
Hold the four strands together and add a crimp tube over all four strands, followed by the remaining half of the toggle clasp.
-
Step 4
Loop the strand ends back through the crimp bead to secure the clasp.
-
Step 5
The other half of the clasp is added at the end to finish the necklace.Squeeze the tube with the crimp pliers and trim the excess wire.
