How to Make Barbecued Spare Ribs

Things You'll Need

  • 4 lb of pork spare ribs
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup chili sauce
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoon diced onions
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • dash of cayenne pepper

      Cut the spare ribs into smaller pieces. Cut them to your preference of serving size, or to fit your kettle or Dutch oven.

      Place the ribs into the kettle or Dutch oven. Quarter the onion, and throw it in.

      Sprinkle the contents with the salt and pepper.

      Put enough water in the kettle to cover the contents.

      Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat.

      Cover the kettle, and allow the spare ribs to simmer for about 1 1/2 hours.

      While the spare ribs are simmering, prepare the sauce.

      In a medium to large saucepan mix all of the sauce ingredients together.

      Simmer the sauce on low heat for about on hour. It will thicken. Make sure to stir it occasionally.

      Remove the ribs from the kettle, and place them on a broiler pan.

      Brush the ribs with the sauce and broil 5 minutes on each side. Be sure to brush on more sauce as the spare ribs are broiling.
