Freelancing is defined as working on an individual job, not long term. Most people think freelancing is only for computer people or artists or photographers, but they are wrong. Everyone can freelance... EVERYONE

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • One Skill or Many Skills
  • The Internet
  1. Step 1

Sit down and do a self evaluation of your abilities. What do you enjoy doing? What do you find your friends and family members asking you to do for them? What do you do around your home or apartment that others hire someone to do? What are your hobbies? Go ahead and make your list.

  2. Step 2

Now you will have to figure out what you are going to charge for your services. For example, if you are offering a lawn cutting service then decide if you will bring your own equipment or use others and will you charge by the size of the yard or by the hour. Always try to figure out what you want to get paid per hour and use that to help in figuring out what to charge your clients.

  3. Step 3

Sign up with as many social networking websites you can find and create a profile... facebook, twitter, myspace, etc. Post your skills and pictures if applicable. Look through the internet for freelancing websites. Many are based on computer type jobs... website creation, flash design, PHP, etc. Others are for photographers and artists. The freelancing websites I have found for everyone else are Craigslist.com and FrogSkinn.com. Craigslist has a "gigs" category for people who are looking to hire someone for a one time job. They also have a "services" category where you can post your skill. FrogSkinn is a freelancing website for every skill. It allows people to post a "hiring" ad and a profile ad under whatever category they fit into... "Scrubbers", "Cake Designers", "Carpenters",... just to name a few.

  4. Step 4

Create a blog about your interests and link it to your social networking websites as well as your ads and profiles.

  5. Step 5

Email your friends and relatives the links to your new freelancing network. It takes some time but your persistence and patience will pay off in dollars.
