How to Link Twitter to Facebook

Shares & Saves

Twitter, with its short-message style, can be described as a sort of alternate Facebook, with just status updates. Although Facebook has some capabilities Twitter lacks, such as photo albums and a more detailed profile page, its status-update feature is very similar to that of Twitter's Tweet feature. If you use both Twitter and Facebook, you can link your accounts together so that your Tweets also post as Facebook statuses with no extra work on your part.

  • Log in to Facebook and visit the Twitter application page.

  • Click "Allow" to give Twitter permission to access your Facebook account.

  • Click "Sign in with Twitter," then "Allow" to complete the connection process. If you're not already logged in to Twitter, you'll be prompted to do so.

  • Use the check boxes in the "App permissions" section to direct where you want your Tweets to be posted; you can post them to your personal profile or to a page you administer. Note that @reply Tweets and direct messages won't be posted to your Facebook news feed.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can unlink your Facebook and Twitter accounts at any time by visiting the Twitter app page and clicking "Want to disconnect your Twitter and Facebook accounts?"
