There will be times when your baby will be fussy. You tried everything but nothing works maybe you havent tried these tips.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

There are times when your baby will just be fussy for no reason and no matter what you try nothing will work. Sometimes you just have to let the CIO (cry it out). However, no parent likes to watch or listen to their child cry. If you have tried changing the diaper, feeding him or her, and they already took a nap try these things too.

  2. Step 2

Believe it or not some babies like to watch tv. Even though they dont know what they are watching the colors and movement still attracts their attention. Put on a cartoon DVD and then grab a chair and sit in front of the television with your baby on your lap and see if that works.

  3. Step 3

You can also try using the vaccuum. The loud noise acually makes them be quiet. Sometimes babies do better when they hear loud noise noise thats louder then them that catches their attention. Standing by a running faucet also works too or you can run your tub water.

  4. Step 4

Rattles or toys that play music are very useful as well. If your baby is old enough to hold a toy give him or her a rattle. If not shake the rattle for him or her it will catch their attention. You can also put your baby in front of a toy that plays music or light up. Playmats are also a good investment because you can lay your baby on the playmat and they can watch the toys dangle over their head.

  5. Step 5

If none of the above works you can swaddle your baby which is wrapping their arms and legs up tightly and holding them. Sometimes they need the tightness to feel like their still in the womb. You can also try laying your baby across your legs face down and swaying your legs back and forth or bounce them up and down. Also some babies just like to lay on a soft pillow or you can sit him up or even try making him stand on his legs (age permitting) while you talk and sing to him.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you need a time out its okay to lay your baby down in his crib or playpen and walk away for a few minutes while he cries if you feel stressed.
  • Never hit or shake your baby.
