Things You'll Need:
- Gas station or
- Target or
- Grocery Store
-
Step 1
Lottery Tickets.
This is fantastic for hard-to-buy-for friends. Go to the gas station or grocery store and get as many tickets as you can afford. Who knows what they might end up getting this holiday season? -
Step 2
Netflix
Sign up your pal for this movie subscription service and they'll receive an email notifying them they're ready to go. They can even watch a movie over the Internet immediately!
Best of all, whether they watch movies online or on DVD, there are no shipping or late fees. I use them and love them.
Order at their website and you're done in 3 minutes. -
Step 3
Coffee
Coffee makes a great gift because it's appreciated, it's non-gender-specific, you can choose the amount you want to spend, and if you pair it with an unusual mug or homemade biscotti it's a well-rounded, thoughtful gift.
Stop into Starbucks or any grocery store that has a coffee bar (most do now). Or order online and make someone's holiday happier that much quicker. -
Step 4
Movie Tickets.
This means more today than it used to because it costs more than it used to! It's really an indulgence. Throw in extra for the vat of popcorn and soda. Pick up a gift card from the grocery store kiosk or the movie theatre itself, if convenient.
Cute presentation idea: Bundle with extra-large candy bars and a 6-pack of soda, also found at the grocery store. -
Step 5
Wine.
There are lots of decent wines for under $20 but if you're working last minute, you can't search online for that elusive bargain. The best selections of good wine under $20 you can run out and get NOW are at Costco, Trader Joe's, and Cost Plus.
Buy these if you see them: Kim Crawford Chardonnay, La Crema Chardonnay, Coppola Diamond Claret, Bogle Merlot, and any variety by Rodney Strong, Kendall Jackson, or Sterling.
