Step 1
Step 1) The first step in marketing yourself as a real estate agent (especially if you are a new agent) is writing a MARKETING PLAN and BUSINESS PLAN for the year. This is essential as it will keep you on track to your financial goals as well as business expenses throughout the year for real estate.
-
Step 2
Step 2) The second step in marketing yourself as a real estate agent is having a well-qualified agent MENTOR you. This should take the form of showing you how to write purchase-and-sale contracts, show you how to run an open house, show you how to market yourself, etc. This is crucial and will save you a lot of time in becoming a good agent.
-
Step 3
Step 3) The third step in marketing yourself as an agent is sending out an informational brochure to all your CONTACTS (i.e. personal, business, religious, etc) about yourself and that you have become a real estate agent. This will help spread your name by word-of-mouth, and your friends will know that you have entered the real estate field.
-
Step 4
Step 4) The fourth step in marketing yourself as a real estate agent is soliciting FSBO's (For Sale By Owners). This has to be done if you are new in the real estate business.

Step 5) The fifth step is marketing through the INTERNET. This takes the form of monthly real estate email newsletters to your contacts, ads on craigslist in the real estate section, email blasts, facebook, myspace, etc. Don't underestimate the power of the internet in the 21st century for marketing yourself as a real estate agent.

on 9/9/2009 Don't forget about customer service and being personable. We interviewed agents when we wanted to sell our house. We didn't go with one agent because she was ... well ... cranky. If I thought she was cranky, what might perspective buyers think? (Careful about keyword stuffing - it could get your article swept and google hates it. Otherwise good information.)
