Draw Cartoon Female Faces
Illustrations by Andrew DeWitt

The female cartoon face is slightly different than the male cartoon face. Female cartoon characters are typically softer, prettier and a lot less ridiculous looking. You can create a female cartoon face by exaggerating the natural features in a woman's face that makes her appear feminine. A cartoon female will typically have larger eyes, a smaller nose and rounder lips than her male counterpart. Once you have learned how to create a female cartoon face, you can create many different female characters.

Draw a cross or "t" shape across the face to create a guideline for facial details. Add the nose on with a curved semicircle on the vertical line of the cross. Add the mouth with a curved horizontal line just below the nose.

Draw the eyes with two ovals on the horizontal line of the cross. Attach a curved line to the top of each oval for the eyelid. Add the eyebrows with a curved line above each eye. Add the lips with a curved line below the mouth and a flattened "M" shaped line just above the mouth.

Color will bring your cartoon to life

Color the cartoon face with art markers. Use beige for the skin, orange for the hair, red for the lips and blue for the eyes. Let the marker dry and add red colored pencil across the nose and cheeks for extra color. Add highlights to the hair with a yellow colored pencil on the areas of the hair that are exposed to the most light.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can use any color you wish for the hair. Cartoon characters can have wildly different hair colors.
  • Let the ink from the markers dry completely before using colored pencil or the drawing could tear.
