Instructions

    • 1

Place cotton wool in a container. The size of the container is unimportant, so long as the cotton wool can be stacked two inches thick.

    • 2

Sprinkle water on the cotton wool until damp to the touch.

    • 3

Spread the mustard seeds on the cotton wool. You can bury them a half-inch below the surface, but it isn't necessary.

    • 4

Place the container near a window that gets partial sunlight. Long exposure to direct sunlight can destroy the seeds. Put a sheet of paper on top of the container to help protect it.

    • 5

Keep the cotton wool damp. Once the sprouts reach about one and a half inches you can harvest them. Total germination process should take between three to five days.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use mustard seeds that are packaged for germination, rather than seeds made for spice.
